Communities

Petaluma

Incorporated in 1858, Petaluma is one of California’s oldest cities. While the 1906 earthquake destroyed most of the surrounding towns, Petaluma managed to escape with minimal damage. As a result, the aggressive preservation of Petaluma’s precious Downtown, Historic Residences and Riverfront area is a long-standing municipal tradition. The rich architecture and vibrant downtown defines the soul of the population, which is friendly, welcoming and proud.

City of Sonoma

The city of Sonoma has a small-town atmosphere with a fun family friendly environment for everyone. Sonoma is the birthplace of California’s wine industry and is to this day one of the most visited destinations in the State. Nestled between the Sonoma and Mayacama Mountain ranges, the Sonoma Valley is home to picturesque wine castles, quaint farms and expansive park land. In the center of it all is the Sonoma Plaza, which is a National Historic Landmark and a local treasure.

Oakmont

Situated in the "Valley of the Moon", Oakmont is within walking distance to world-class wineries and just a short drive to vibrant downtown Santa Rosa.Known for its scenic beauty, Oakmont features two award winning golf courses, a beautiful clubhouse and a welcoming atmosphere; all of this sheltered by the mountains of Annadel State Park, Hood Mountain Regional Park and the Mayacama Mountains. Home to over 4,500 residents, Oakmont offers both independent and assisted living opportunities.

Cotati

Cotati has long been considered the "Hub" of Sonoma County by virtue of its central location and wheel-shaped plaza. Cotati offers the best of small town living, with all of the advantages of having a location near larger cities. Cotati is the effective downtown of Sonoma State University, which is the only California State University in Sonoma County. Cotati's roots are steeped in agriculture, education and the arts and residents are proud of its diverse community and rich history.

Russian River

The Russian River Valley is an American Viticultural Area (AVA) in Sonoma County. It accounts for about one-sixth of the total planted vineyard acreage in Sonoma County. The Russian River Valley has a characteristically cool climate, heavily affected by fog generated by the valley's proximity to the Pacific Ocean. The area is known for its success with cool climate varietals, notably Pinot noir and Chardonay.

Rohnert Park

Known as the “Friendly City”, Rohnert Park is one of the first planned communities in the United States. Situated smack dab in the middle of the North Bay, Rohnert Park offers something for everyone. While originally founded as a “bedroom community”, Rohnert Park has become a thriving city and Wine Country destination unto itself.

Sebastopol

Once the “Gravenstein Apple Capital of the World,” Sebastopol is now known for its “Banana Belt” location, rolling vineyards and lush botanical gardens. Located about 20 minutes from the Pacific Ocean and aprx.1 1/2 hours north of San Francisco, Sebastopol is home to approximately 7,700 residents. Sebastopol attracts a variety of lifestyles and offers everything from communal housing to sprawling country estates. From tie-dye to black tie, Sebastopol has it all!

Windsor

The Town of Windsor is known as a family-oriented community with exceptional quality of life. Windsor offers a variety of recreational opportunities and well-planned business areas, including an award winning downtown. The 4.5 acre Town Green is home to many unique shops, restaurants, and popular events such as the seasonal Farmers Market, Summer Nights on the Green, the Winter Wine Walk, and the Windsor Day Parade.

Santa Rosa

Santa Rosa is the largest city in Sonoma County and houses more than 1/3 of the county’s population on almost 42 square miles. In 2016 U.S News and World Reports declared Santa Rosa the 4th best place to live in California. Located along the 101 Corridor, Santa Rosa is within minutes of some of Sonoma County’s most iconic attractions. With a beautiful downtown, historic Railroad Square and vintage architecture, Santa Rosa offers the best of small town living with the convenience of a large city.

Penngrove

Penngrove is one of the North Bay's best kept secrets. Once a freight station on the Northwestern Pacific Railroad, Penngrove was the second largest egg and poultry producing area in Sonoma County, second only to Petaluma. Penngrove's downtown is only a few blocks long and includes an eclectic array of shops, restaurants, coffee shops and bars. Penngrove residents are proud of their town, culture and small businesses, as evidenced by their community magazine named Penngrove Proud.
